My second 14’er, Paul’s… umpteenth. Colorado’s 51st highest peak is most noted for being the most difficult of the 14’ers to get to. Situated about 2 hours from the nearest paved road you have to want to climb this one to make the effort to get there. It is 12 mile roundtrip with an elevation gain of 3600 feet. We camped overnight and started before dawn, which was well worth it for the spectacular sunrise. Wildflowers and green mountainsides made this hike quite wonderful, as I’m not a fan of the typical moonscape found at this altitude. Visit Creede. See a play at the repertory theatre. hike a big mountain. eat a delicious burger at Far Dog. You’ll enjoy it. I promise.
